12-12-2003: "Sneeuw, sneeuw en nog eens sneeuw"

Helaas deze week maar weinig tijd om een uitgebreid stukje voor het weblog te schrijven. De afgelopen week was bijzonder druk. Dit vooral vanwege het slechte weer. Alles gaat dan meteen op halve snelheid.

Het sneeuwt nu al een paar dagen en het ziet er voorlopig niet naar uit dat daar verandering in komt.

Ook zit het nu wat tegen. Hier en daar lekkage, en ook is de generator weer kapot. We proberen nog wel gewoon vast te houden aan onze planning maar dat zal hoogstwaarschijnlijk deze week wel niet meer vol te houden zijn.

Verder gaat alles eigenlijk best goed. We waren niet erg tevreden over de schoonmaakcapaciteiten van de cleaner in de BHU in Khairkhane. Je moet er wel van op aan kunnen dat naalden of sputumpotjes op een verantwoorde wijze worden afgevoerd en verwerkt. De cleaner is nu dus guard en de guard die normaal voor ons kookte is nu cleaner. Verder ook iemand aangenomen die voor ons kookt, schoonmaakt en klusjes doet. Ook in Regi niet stilgezeten. Ook daar hebben we om het zachtjes uit te drukken wat met het personeel lopen schuiven.

De bouwwerkzaamheden liepen tot nu toe erg gesmeerd maar nu alles onder een dik pak sneeuw ligt is daar een einde aangekomen. Nu op de base is iedereen druk aan het tikken om alle rapportages op tijd de deur uit te krijgen. De woonkamer is net een soort internetcafé met al die computers. Maar alle medical reports, monthly reports en six months orders kunnen nu wel weer de deur uit. De kippies leggen eieren alsof hun leven ervan af hangt. En dat ondanks de sneeuw. Het is een leuk gezicht om ze met een dik pak sneeuw op hun kop te zien rondbanjeren. Het kan ze lijkt wel niet erg boeien. Austin, onze kat is zwaar gepikeerd. Die vindt de sneeuw maar een heel gedoe.

Joh, ik ben jaloers op al die mooie sneeuw. Het is hier net herfst en zo groen als onze spar. Leuk dat het lijkt dat die kippen voelen dat Kerst er aan komt.
